The sandwich was named after john montagu the 11th earl of sandwich.
He inveted the sandwich so his card game would not be intorupted by players taking a break for dinner.
Te was also the first lord of admiralty from 1748 to 1751.
The sandwich islands wich are now cald Hawaii.
